Background

Caroline Ayres is a Licensed Professional Counselor who offers compassionate, person-centered, and evidence-based therapy that honors the integration of mind, body, and spirit. Drawing from the principles of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Caroline supports clients in cultivating psychological flexibility—helping them move toward what matters most with openness, clarity and values-based action.

A native of the South Carolina Lowcountry, Caroline was born and raised just down the Intracoastal Waterway in Hilton Head Island. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Experimental Psychology from the University of South Carolina, where she also danced as a member of the Carolina Coquettes in Williams-Brice Stadium—a formative experience that deepened her appreciation for the mind-body connection. Caroline then earned two Master’s degrees from Mercer University: a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a Master of Divinity from Mercer’s McAfee School of Theology, further broadening her understanding of holistic human wellness.

Caroline draws from a diverse range of experience, from hospital, intensive outpatient, and private practice settings. She has had the privilege of walking alongside individuals and families from all backgrounds, ages, spiritual and faith traditions, and life experiences. Caroline is passionate about supporting adults as they navigate life’s challenges, tailoring her care to meet the unique needs of each individual with empathy, respect and deep compassion.

Her work is grounded in values that guide both her professional and personal life: vulnerability, respect, contribution, empathy and mindfulness.
