Michael Lewis has a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Trinity International University and is an Associate Certified Coach (ICF) and Certified Health Coach.  He has experience and training in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Motivational Interviewing.  He also actively weaves both Positive Psychology and Appreciative Inquiry into his coaching style.

Michael started his career in mental health before transitioning to the business sector and working in operations and public relations which culminated in him running five small businesses in Philadelphia.  Eventually his passion to work with people through health and wellness coaching brought him back to the mental health field.  His diverse career path highlights one of his favorite mottos, “Values guided action is more important than certainty for success at anything.”

Michael believes that at their core, humans are naturally creative, resourceful, and whole. He engages people with compassion and considers each person to be the expert on their own life.  As a coach he works to bring out people’s strengths, open them to possibilities, and support them in taking value aligned action.

Michael’s interests include cycling, strength training, nutrition, hiking, meditation, animals, spirituality, and anything that involves motion and being outdoors.  He also enjoys board games and sci-fi movies, so don’t be surprised by the occasional humorous reference to geek/pop culture.  He has family in Charleston, and he enjoys spending time with them, especially his niece and nephew whom he adores.
