Ayana Byam

Intake Coordinator

Ayana J. Byam-Holston is a 2017 Kennesaw State alum where she received her bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and minored in Psychology and Public Health. She has 20 years’ experience in the healthcare industry in various settings from being a Certified Nursing Assistant at assisted living facilities to working alongside doctors as a Senior Medical Secretary at Emory Healthcare in Atlanta, GA.  She is also a certified personal trainer through the American College of Sports Medicine and teaches group fitness. With over 10 years of experience as a personal trainer, Ayana has gained a great understanding of the mind-body connection as they are both equally important to one’s overall wellness.  Modern Minds’ holistic approach to mental wellness was very attractive to Ayana as they encompass exactly what she preaches that ‘what affects the mind, affects the body and what affects the body, affects the mind’.  Ayana’s other passion includes spear-heading a mentorship program for high school girls called “EmPOW-HER”.  The focus is to empower teenage girls to be the best version of themselves by embracing their uniqueness and being engaged in their community; all while maintaining and building upon their spiritual, mental, and physical health in preparation for their transition from adolescence into adulthood.  As the Intake Coordinator, Ayana considers it a privilege to being an integral part of the client’s initial phase of the on-boarding process by exuding empathy, compassion and an understanding of the their experience(s) which in return will provide an insight to every relationship at Modern Minds.  During her time outside of Modern Minds, Ayana enjoys spending quality  time with her husband, daughter, and son, working out and training clients, cooking plant-based cuisines, and beach-bumming.
